The Corporate Wealth Extraction Guide

How incorporated business owners can give retained earnings a smarter job — with more flexibility, succession certainty and a tax-aware legacy.

12-page PDF guide + workshop companion · by Arti Verma

Workshop edition. A plain-English guide for Canadian incorporated owners: why corporate wealth is not automatically personal wealth, how passive investment income can grind down the small business limit, what corporate-owned permanent insurance can and cannot do, how the Capital Dividend Account actually works, and the difference between a withdrawal, an insurer policy loan and a third-party collateral loan. Includes a Corporate Structural Wealth Score™ you can complete in minutes.

What you will walk away with

  • Understand why retained earnings are corporate capital — not spendable personal wealth
  • See how adjusted aggregate investment income between $50K and $150K can reduce the small business limit
  • Know what corporate-owned participating whole life can do — and what it cannot
  • Follow the Capital Dividend Account math: net death proceeds − policy ACB = potential CDA addition
  • Compare withdrawal vs. insurer policy loan vs. third-party collateral loan, and the watch-outs for each
  • Score your corporate structure out of 10 and bring your next three priorities to the workshop

The six corporate pillars

  1. 1Tax Structure
  2. 2Protection Structure
  3. 3Retirement Structure
  4. 4Business Structure
  5. 5Estate Structure
  6. 6Legacy Structure

How the scoring works

Corporate Structural Wealth Score™

Ten yes/no statements about surplus cash, reserves, passive income review, retirement, protection, shareholder agreements, estate documents, tax and liquidity, succession and legacy intent. Each YES = 1 point.

Reading your score

0-3 build the foundation (cash flow, reserves, debt, legal documents, essential protection). 4-6 important gaps worth a coordinated review. 7-10 a strong planning signal — you may be ready for deeper modelling with your insurance, tax and legal team.

Educational only

This is general education for Canadian owners, not tax, legal, accounting or individualized financial advice. Coordinate implementation with your accountant and legal counsel.
