Money conversations that don't end in an argument

Structure beats willpower. A short monthly check-in prevents the annual blow-up.

Money arguments are rarely about money. They are about safety, fairness and being heard — which is why they escalate so quickly when raised at a bad moment.

Set a standing thirty-minute monthly check-in with a fixed agenda: what came in, what went out, what is coming, one decision. Nothing else gets discussed, and nothing money-related gets raised outside it unless it is urgent.

Couples who adopt this almost always report the same thing: the conversations get shorter and much calmer within three months.
